FASTER THAN YOU THOUGHT: The S-Works Epic World Cup frameset is the fastest cross country race bike in the world thanks to its unrivaled combination of efficiency, control and light weight on easy to medium trails. World Champion Christopher Blevins put it best: “This bike gives me everything I love about hardtails, plus the control and capability of a full-suspension bike.” All it took to build this speed machine was an absolutely holistic development approach, the invention of a radical new shock and four decades of off-road experience crowned with countless victories.
NEW FRAME STANDARDS: To achieve maximum speed through mercilessly efficient power transfer and precise handling, our engineering team set and achieved new standards in torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. This feat required a holistic development approach, combining a structurally superior double-diamond layout with a top tube-integrated shock and the most sophisticated carbon layup in Specialized's history.
SHOCKINGLY FAST: The Specialized Ride Dynamics team developed a revolutionary shock technology for the Epic World Cup that gives you the efficiency and snappy response of a hardtail plus the control and performance of a full-suspension bike - all with a simple setup. Developed in conjunction with RockShox, the SID Deluxe WCID shock uses a unique, independently adjustable positive and negative air spring. This provides the coveted snap of a hardtail and swallows difficult terrain, maintains your momentum and forgives riding errors. The setup can be adapted to different trails or tailored to your preferences. If you set the Epic WC to a hard setting, it rides like a hardtail; in a softer setup, it clears the bumps out of the way. Not only do you have the option of opening or closing the compression damping, the simple nature of the setup also allows you to ride with or without sag.
EXTREMELY FIT FOR ITS CATEGORY: At 75 mm, the rear suspension of the Epic World Cup offers the same control and capability as a bike with much more travel. It is designed to be ridden predominantly in or close to the topped-out position. This results in the same positive suspension travel as a bike with 100 mm travel and 25% sag. To further optimize suspension performance, the Specialized Ride Dynamics team tuned the spring rate so that it is relatively flat in the middle of the stroke and can handle most impacts like a longer travel bike. The size of the Mega Jounce Bumper, the special bump stop damper, is a first and plays a crucial role in smoothly handling bottom-outs on big hits.
WE HAVE LOST OUR MIND: The new and groundbreaking SID Deluxe WCID damper provides a unique blend of support and compliance in the rear - without BRAIN technology. However, the BRAIN is still installed in the suspension fork and is still alive and kicking. The position-sensitive technology with 15 mm sag gives you a balanced ride and offers smooth compliance on small bumps and also a rigid pedaling platform, without a handlebar remote for the compression damping.
LIGHTER AND STIFFER: With a frame weight of just 1,765 grams (painted with shock and hardware), the Epic World Cup leaves the lightest competition behind. This means faster acceleration, more efficient climbing and more agile handling. And all this is ultimately noticeable in the speed. We've achieved this light weight and tremendous stiffness by using the knowledge we've gained from developing the Aethos, the lightest production race bike ever made, including the most advanced carbon layup and tube shapes.
THE HARDEST COMPETITION: The Epic World Cup frameset features the Roval Control SL 180 g seatpost, providing unparalleled light weight, stiffness and control for today's World Cup courses.
- The new Epic World Cup frameset utilizes the most advanced suspension technology. The 75 mm of rear wheel travel has been optimized by our Ride Dynamics team and the frame-integrated shock delivers unbeatable pedaling efficiency. The Epic World Cup is ready to tackle the toughest cross country trails - without a remote control for the shock.
- The new Roval Control SL seatpost is one of the lightest cross country seatposts on the market and helps you to climb climbs as effortlessly as possible.
- The new SID SL BRAIN suspension fork from RockShox with 110 mm travel damps with a lot of performance and distinguishes between your movements on the bike and the bumps from the ground - for ultimate efficiency.
